The drive takes you through Nakasongola where you might come across the long-horned cattle grazing in the plains. You will have lunch in Masindi and proceed to the park through Kichumbanyobo gate, Budongo forest to the River Nile. Cross to the northern side for an evening game drive with chances of sighting the lion, leopard, or hyena. Elephants and herds of Uganda kobs, Jacksons’ hartebeest, and buffaloes are common.
Drive to the lodge, check-in, have dinner, freshen up, and rest.
Meal plan: Half board
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Just like the residents of the jungle, you will also rise up early morning, have breakfast and head out for the game drive to see how they go about with their day. Driving out early gives visitors a chance to encounter predators before they retire to their hideouts after hunting. However, this is nature in that they can still be sighted in the midmorning yet you rose up only to first come across hippos returning to Lake Albert. Game drives in Murchison falls national park also take you close to elephants, giraffes, and many other wild animals. Birds especially savannah birds are present in the plains, for example the Abyssinian hornbill is commonly seen during game drives.
After about 4 hours of the game drive, return to the lodge, freshen up, have lunch, and drive to Paraa for the boat cruise. The launch cruise takes you to the bottom of the falls where you will watch the mighty River Nile pour down after penetrating through the small gorge. Go out of the boat, and meet your next guide for the hike to the top of the Falls. This is one of the best adventures to do in Murchison falls national park. The trail to the beautiful site offers an opportunity to sight interesting bird species and lovely views of the Nile and the park. Upon arrival at the top of the falls, you will be astonished by the beauty and strength of the falls.
The safari guide will be waiting to drive you back to the lodge.
