4 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari

This is a big five African safari combined with Chimpanzees of Budongo forest. The tour will begin and end in Kampala but very rewarding where you will be able to stop at roadside markets to buy fresh fruits, en-route lunch and trek the rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Murchison falls National Park is home to two exciting vegetation types – savannah and woodland forests.

These are just separated by Albert Nile that crosses the park hence supplying water for the animals. Encounter the game drive, boat cruise, hiking top of falls and chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest reserve.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrive and transfer to Murchison falls national park.

Arrive or be picked from an agreed point and immediately transfer to Murchison falls national park. This is the biggest national park in the country and known to host 4 of the big five animals together with the powerful waterfall in the world. This park is divided into two by the Nile River, the northern part having savannah vegetation and the southern part dotted with woodland forests.

Have a great road trip with several stopovers like the one on roadside Market to buy some fresh fruits you will enjoy while on the way and another one to enjoy enroute lunch. Arrive and find your way to the lodge booked.

Day 2: Murchison falls national park; Game drive and boat cruise.

Have breakfast and later head for a game drive where you will be able to explore the best of savannah national park in the northern banks of River Nile. This drive will take about 2 to 3 hours and it will reward you with wildlife such as lions, elephants, leopards, olive baboons, giraffes, antelopes, warthogs, Oribis among others.

Head for a boat cruise in the afternoon where you will spot animals like crocodiles, hippos among others. This cruise will take you to the bottom of the falls hence rewarding you an opportunity to spot the point where Uhuru falls meets Murchison falls.

Hike to the top of falls the tiresome hike that will be of great joy while exploring Bakers rock, the devil’s cauldron among others. The top will reward you with another exciting moments where you will witness the rainbow that is formed when powerful water passes through a narrow gorge and end up forming a thunderous sound. Have a great photographical moment and then you will transfer to Budongo forest.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest reserve.

Head to Budongo forest at the office and attend briefing that will cover different aspects like the dos and don’ts to follow while in the forest. Trekking will immediately start with a help of the ranger guide and have a great time while in the forest as you spot other attractions like the Vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, olive baboons among others. Enjoy an hour while in front of the chimp troop. The whole activity will take about 3-4hours but of breath taking and after you will return to the lodge for a leisure activity.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala and stopover in Ziwa sanctuary for rhino trekking.

Have breakfast in the morning and start the journey back to Kampala, with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will have a chance to trek the rhinos. These are among the big five African animals and this is the only area in Uganda where you can be able to spot them in the wild. Proceed to Kampala and be dropped at any agreed point, either in Entebbe or Kampala.
