4 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari :This is a Big Five African safari combined with Chimpanzees of Budongo forest. The tour will begin and end in Kampala and we trust that it will be very rewarding wherever you will go and stop, let it be at roadside markets to buy fresh fruits, hotels for en-route lunch and at places like Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will go to trek rhinos. Murchison falls National Park has two major vegetation types – savannah and woodland forests. These two types of vegetation are separated by the Victoria Nile that crosses the park and also forms the mighty Murchison falls. This 4 Day safari takes you for a game drive, boat cruise, hiking to top of the falls and chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest reserve.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrive and transfer to Murchison falls national park
You will be picked from the agreed upon point and immediately transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. This is the biggest national park in Uganda and is renowned for the most powerful waterfalls in the whole world – the Murchison falls. The Nile divides the park into two; the northern part having savannah vegetation and the southern part dotted with woodland forests.
Enjoy your road trip with several stopovers like the one on roadside Market to buy some fresh fruits and another one to enjoy enroute lunch. Arrive and check in to your booked lodge.
Day 2: Murchison falls national park; Game drive and boat cruise.
Have breakfast and head out for a game drive in the plains of Murchison Falls National Park. It will be a 4-5 hours game drive to explore the northern side of the park. Expect to see several animals including lions, elephants, leopards, olive baboons, giraffes, antelopes, warthogs, and Oribis among others. you will return to the lodge for lunch and later head for a boat cruise which takes you exploring the Nile. Expect to see semi-aquatic animals here; crocodiles and hippos. Water birds are usually on the shores in abundance.
At the end of the boat cruise, you will hike to the top of the falls. Explore Bakers rock, the devil’s cauldron, watch the birds, and the landscape among others. The arrival at the top will reward you an exciting experience of witnessing the power of the falls that roar so loud, form a rainbow and wet the viewing point with showers from a distance. Have a great photographical moment and later transfer to Budongo forest.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest Reserve.
After breakfast, drive to the chimp tracking starting point for briefing. Trekking will immediately start with guidance of a ranger guide. During the trek, you have a chance to see Vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, and olive baboons among others. When you meet the chimps, you will have an hour with them before you start trekking back to the office and drive back to your lodge.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala with a stopover at Ziwa Sanctuary for rhino trekking
Have breakfast in the morning and start the journey back to Kampala. You will stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the rhinos. If you saw the elephant, leopard, lion and buffalo in Murchison Falls National Park, then this makes your view of the Big Five animals complete. From here, proceed to Kampala and be dropped at any agreed point in Entebbe or Kampala.
