4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi : This 4 Day Double Gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National park offers a precious opportunity to trek two different gorilla families on different days. It is always a delightful moment to come face to face with the majestic mountain gorillas, and in this case, you are facing them twice, a double thrilling experience in Bwindi Forest. Trekking can take between 2 to 5 hours or more and each of the treks will give a unique experience.

The safari also gives an option of visiting the Batwa community near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi from Kampala

Leave the meeting point in the morning and transfer to Bwindi in the southwestern part of Uganda. The park has four trekking sectors namely Ruhija, Buhoma, Rushaga and Nkuringo. You will drive to the lodge near your trekking sector and this will determine how long your journey will take as the travel time from Kampala to Bwindi is 9-11 hours.

En route, you view Uganda equator in Kayabwe and stop over in Mbarara town for lunch, arrive at the lodge in the evening.

Day 2: First Gorilla Trek

Have your breakfast and head to the park offices to join fellow trekkers and thereafter the park warden or ranger will take you through the briefing. This is a very important moment to prepare you for the adventure and you are requested to listen attentively. The briefing will consider different aspects like the dos and don’ts to follow while in the forest, cross checking of trekking permits, and allocation of the park guides among others.

Penetrate into the forest to start trekking and on locating the gorilla family, you will stay with the apes for an hour. Watching them here is one of the best moments you can ever have in life. From here, trek back to the offices, pick your trekking certificate and drive back to the lodge.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek and visit the Batwa community.

Have another everlasting moment as you take part in the second gorilla trekking experience. Like the previous day, you will head to the offices of the park for briefing and this will be followed by allocation of a ranger guide. You will track another gorilla family in the same region. But expect a whole different experience on this day. The gorillas will expose unique games, behaviors, movements and more.

The overall hike can take 2 to 5 hours as you search and also spend time to with the gorillas. After the activity, head back to the lodge with an option of visiting the Batwa community. This group of pygmies will reward you with interesting cultural experiences through traditional dances, music, medicines and meals among many more others.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala.

Have breakfast at the lodge, followed by a transfer back to Kampala. You will have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe and perhaps can buy some African crafts at the nearby shops for souvenirs. Arrival in Kampala or Entebbe in the evening.
