4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
This 4 days double gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi National park offers one an opportunity to trek the remaining endangered mountain gorillas twice on different days and different gorilla families. Trekking will take between 2 to 5 hours but each will offer you an opportunity to spend a maximum of an hour in the presence of these gorillas.
The safari will be a road trip to and fro, but very rewarding with beautiful landscape, great view of the equator among others. You will have an option of visiting the Batwa community near Bwindi forest. Gorilla trekking in Africa is one of the most sought after activity everyone would wish to do.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi from Kampala.
Leave the meeting point in the morning and transfer to Bwindi national park that is well known to have 19 gorilla families that are habituated and open to tourists. This park is located in the south western part of Uganda with four sectors and these are Ruhija, Buhoma, Rushaga and Nkuringo.
You will be in one of the above sectors where you will have a chance to trek the remaining endangered mountain gorillas. Have a stopover at the Uganda equator and another one in Mbarara town for lunch.
Day 2: First gorilla trekking experience.
Take your breakfast and head to the park offices to join with fellow trekkers and the park warden or ranger will take you through the briefing. This s a very important moment and you are requested to listen attentively. The briefing will consider different aspects like the dos and don’ts to follow while in the forest, cross checking of valid and invalid trekking permits, allocation of the park guides and many others.
Penetrate into the forest to start trekking and on locating a gorilla family, you will have an opportunity of an hour while in their presence which will create everlasting memories. After that, you will trek back and meet the driver guide who will take you to the lodge and start sharing the best moments you encountered in the forest.
Day 3: Second gorilla trekking day and visit the Batwa community.
Have another everlasting moment as you take part in the second gorilla trekking experience. This will be the second gorilla family in the same location but it will reward you with gorilla behaviors, movements and much more. Like the previous day, you will head to the offices of the park for briefing and this will be followed by allocation of a ranger guide.
The overall experience will take about 2 to 5 hours in the jungle of the impenetrable forest including an hour while in their presence. After, head back to the lodge with an option of visiting the Batwa community. This group of pygmies will reward you with cultural experiences through traditional dances, music, medicines and meals among many more others.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala.
Take breakfast at the lodge, followed by a transfer back to Kampala. You will have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe which will create everlasting memories accompanied with lunch. Procced and you will be dropped at either the airport or any other point as agreed upon.
