4 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Lake Bunyonyi Safari

The four day Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi safari is one of the best encounters in East Africa since it introduces visitors to mountain gorillas, Uganda equator, scenery viewing and several bird species at Lake Bunyonyi.

The safari starts with a pick –up from Entebbe international airport / Kampala city, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, gorilla trekking, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and return to Kampala for departure.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Upon arrival at Entebbe international airport or at any hotel within Kampala city, you will meet our driver / guide who will lead you on the long journey to southwestern Uganda – Bwindi Impenetrable national park. You will have a stopover at Kayabwe – Mpigi district for a picture at the Uganda Equator.

Have a chance of grabbing yourself something from the craft shop that will always remind you of the trip. Continue the five hour drive journey to Mbarara city via Masaka city before having a lunch stopover at Igongo Cultural Center from where you will learn the history of Ankole kingdom. You will then continue via the Kigezi hills of Kabale before arriving at the park.

Check in to the lodge of your choice for relaxation, dinner and overnight upon arrival.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and get the necessary trekking equipment including drinking water and lunchbox. Meet your driver and go to the park headquarters for briefing. It is from here that you will get to learn about the likes and the dislikes of gorillas. You will be assigned a group of gorillas to trek and with whom to do the trekking.

Then venture into the jungles of the forest and start the search for these great apes. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will be given one hour to spend as you record videos and take pictures. It is an opportunity for you to learn about their mysteries. During the trek you will meet several animal and bird species some of which are restricted to the area.

Connect with your driver and get back to your lodge for relaxation.

If time allows you, you can visit the neighboring communities and get to learn about new cultures and traditions. Return to the lodge for dinner and spend a night.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

After a delicious morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to Lake Bunyonyi – the second deepest lake in Africa after Tanzania’s Lake Tanganyika. The lake also has more than 29 islands each with a history of its own. The lake is a home to unimaginable number of birds like its name suggests meaning the home of “small birds.”

Check in to any lodge of your choice upon arrival. Drive to the lake for amazing experiences such as swimming, boat riding, hiking the neighboring highlands, visiting the neighboring villages, etc.

Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Return to Kampala city – departure.

Check of your lodge after a delicious morning breakfast and embark on the journey back to Kampala. The journey will involve lunch stopovers and then a picture stopover at the Uganda equator from where you get an opportunity of exploring what you might have missed on Day one.

Continue to Entebbe International airport for departure hence the climax of 4 days Gorilla trekking and Lake Bunyonyi safari.
