3 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari : This 3 Day Uganda Wildlife Safari is a short tour taking you exploring the beautiful Murchison Falls National Park in the northwestern side of the country. You will explore the park while on a game drive, a launch trip and chimp tracking adventure. En-route, you will track the endangered rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
Animals you should expect to see while on the safari include warthogs, olive baboons, crocodiles, hippos, bush bucks, water bucks, Jackson’s hartebeests, elephants, giraffes, and several bird species.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from the airport or Kampala and transfer to Murchison falls NP, stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Be picked from the airport / hotel in Kampala and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park in the morning. The drive will take you through Kampala suburbs of Bwaise and Kawempe plus side markets including the fresh fruits market in Luwero town where you can buy yourself some fruits to enjoy during the road trip.
Arrive at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for rhino trekking; the activity will last for about 2 hours. Have lunch and proceed with the journey to the park where you will arrive in the evening, check in to your lodge, have dinner and rest.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
On this great day, you will be involved in a morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise. The morning game drive will take you around the northern part of Murchison Falls National Park which is covered by savannah vegetation and gives a chance to see several wild animals such as elephants, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, Jackson hartebeests, bushbucks, water bucks and more. The game drive will take about 4 hours.
The boat cruise on the other hand takes place along the Victoria Nile where you are able to see hippos, crocodiles and other animals on the river bank.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest and transfer back to Kampala.
Head to Budongo forest early in the morning for chimpanzee tracking. It will begin with a briefing session. Tracking will last for about 5 hours and you will be lucky if you spot the chimpanzees in a short period of time. Trekkers are allowed to stay with the apes for an hour before exiting the forest. At the end of the trek, you will set off for Kampala where you will arrive in the evening.
