3 Days Lake Mburo National Park safari


Welcome to this fantastic tour of 3 days Lake Mburo National Park safari.The park is located in southwestern Uganda and it’s the fourth largest national, with a total area of about 260 square kilometer.  The park is surrounded by farmlands and the ridges of kigarama hills. The park is famous for its vast and unique flora and fauna. While in the park you will encounter the world’s largest population of zebras, impalas, herds of buffaloes, bird species, oribi, hyenas, elands, hippos, leopards, and many others. The park is about 269.4km from Kampala and the journey takes about 4:30 hours from Kampala the main city center.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Transfer from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park, boat cruise, and guided nature walk.

In the morning after your breakfast, the driver/guide will pick you up and give you a briefing about the journey and after the briefing, you will set off for the trip. Upon arrival, you will check in at the hotel, have early lunch at 1 pm, and after lunch go for a boat cruise which starts at 2:30 pm and it takes 2 hours. While on the boat you will see most of the animals like buffaloes, zebras, impalas, birds, and crocodiles. After your boat cruise, you will go guided nature walk that starts from Rwonyo which is the park center to the salt licks. This salt licks animals parade themselves there licking salty stones. You will be able to see animals like buffaloes, zebras, elands, impalas and the birds in the forests chirping. You will go back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2. Game drive and cycling.

You will wake up as early as 6:30 am, have a briefing on how to conduct yourself while in the jungle, and at 7: 00 am you will embark on the game drive. While on this activity expect to encounter leopards, hyenas going back to their dens, hippos going back to the water, buffaloes feeding their calves, impalas, zebras since the park is a zebra sanctuary, and many other animals, the activity takes about 2-3 hours. You will go back for breakfast, relax at your lodge, and in the evening you will go cycling in the park which is a rare activity compared to other parks. It’s a nice experience since you will be meeting grazers like buffaloes, elands, zebras, and many birds in the tree brunches. You will go back to the lodge for a second-night stay.

Day 3. Transfer back to Kampala, bird watching

Since it’s your last day in the park, you will wake up as early as 6:40 am and have   breakfast then go bird watching. This activity is best in the early morning which gives you a bit of extra luck to see birds and others weaving their nests, the activity takes about 2 hours. After that, you will check out from the lodge, pack your luggage and transfer to   Kampala and the next stopover will be at the Equator. You will have lunch in a local restaurant but decent, take pictures while at the Equator, buy some souvenirs and then proceed to Entebbe for your departure.
