This 3 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking safari is simply a short Uganda package made for chimpanzee lovers looking to see chimpanzees in their natural habitat. It will take you to one of the world’s most famous place to see the Chimpanzees in the wild – Kibale National Park. The park offers a high opportunity to spot the chimps in a shorter period of time.

Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda close to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Semuliki National Park. You can have a longer safari that joins together these destinations if you want to see and experience more.

The accommodation arranged for your 3 Days Safari will be on your choice and budget. At the edge of Kibale forest, there is Isunga cultural community known for its Batooro and Bakiga cultural experiences. Take a community tour for a chance to meet the local dancers who will take you into cultural entertainment through music and dances.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

You will be picked from the airport and head straight to Kibale National Park where you will have your next 2 nights. This park is commonly known for inhabiting 13 primates hence called the “World’s Primate Capital.

In addition to primates, there are other big mammals in the park such as forest elephants and duikers. The park has several hard wood trees and some have spent over 100 years. Arrive in the evening after a lazy drive that can take about 6 hours and check in the accommodation booked.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Isunga community tour

Head to Kanyanchu Visitors Center where you will attend briefing about chimpanzee tracking in Kibale. This will be done in order to make you familiar with the forest and its residents. The dos and don’ts will be well explained; no feeding of animals, no use of flash-light cameras, and no making noise among others. Enter the forest to start the search for the great apes and this will be done with a help of the armed park ranger guide who will take you to where they are expected to be roaming. The ranger is also there to ensure that you safe as well as offer knowledge and facts about the chimps and the forest in general.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch which will be followed by a visit to Isunga community which is located at the edge of Kibale National Park. This community initiative is aimed at protecting the wildlife since they live next to the park. Also, through Tourism cultures of both the Bakiga and Batooro people who live in this community are preserved. After the community tour, you will head back to the lodge for a relaxation and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala.

Be served with breakfast, check out and head back to Kampala. The scenic drive from Kibale to Kampala entertains with views of hills covered by rocks, tea estates, forests, and gardens among others. A stopover will be in Mubende town for an enroute lunch. Continue with the journey and on arrival, be dropped at either your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe or at the airport depending your next program.
