21 Days Grand Uganda Expedition

Visit most of the national parks and major tourist sites in Uganda during this 21 days Uganda safari; ranging from primate treks like Chimpanzees, gorillas and golden monkeys. Visit the savannah national parks where you will take part in game drives and boat cruise, offering you an opportunity to spot animals like African elephant, buffalos, hyenas, lions, antelopes, warthogs, zebras, hippos, giraffes among others. Visit numerous cultural sites and centers such as Amabere caves, Nyero rock painting and much more.

Take community tours where you will visit the Batwa pygmy’s community in Bwindi national Park, Isunga cultural community at the edge of Kibale forest for cultural experience for both Bakiga and Batooro, Karamojong culture in Kidepo National park. Hiking will be done such as at Sipi falls, Soroti rock, Mount Elgon and much more.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and head to the hotel in Kampala.

Arrive ant Entebbe International Airport where you will meet the driver guide. He will take you through briefing about this safari and the country weather which will be followed by a drive to Kampala where you will spend a night.

Day 2: Head to Jinja at the source of River Nile with stopovers at Sezibwa falls, Mabira forest.

Head to Jinja after breakfast and this journey will involve different stopover such as one at Sezibwa falls. These falls have a big significant to the Baganda culture and you will hike into the rocks where you will meet different traditional healers. Proceed and have another stopover in Mabira forest where you will have taken a short nature walk or opt for a zip lining experience.

After find your way to Jinja and this will be followed with lunch at one of the resorts where you will spend a night. Head for a boat cruise in the afternoon which will take you to the source of the Nile. This will give you a chance to spot the Nile crocodiles and hippos.

Day 3: Head to Mbale and Sipi falls hike.

Leave Jinja and head to Mbale District after your breakfast. Hike Sipi and this will be of great adventure, this will involve passing through the coffee farms of the Bagishu and then start the hike of the 3 different falls, one at a height of 100m, 85m and 70m respectively. Learn about the traditional beliefs behind these falls and this will take about 4 hours. Head to the booked resort for the best view of the resort in the evening.

Day 4: Day hike on Mount. Elgon.

Have a small hike in Mount Elgon national park and this will begin with briefing that will last for about 20 minutes and then the hike will last for about 5 to 6 hours. This hike will take you to caves, different bird species, different primates among other. This hike is really rewarding and you will enjoy taking part. You will also have your picnic lunch and this will be of great adventure

Day 5: Head to Soroti town with a stopover at Nyero rock paintings.

Leave Mbale and head to Soroti Town and you will have a stopover Nyero rock painting which has traditional significant for the pygmies and Bachwezi. This will be of great adventure and this will be in Kumi district. Proceed and you will find yourself in Soroti Town where you will spend a night.

Day 6: Hike Soroti rock and transfer to Kidepo valley National Park.

Hike Soroti rock one of the amazing features in Soroti Town and this will create everlasting time and you get an aerial view of Soroti Town, the Soroti airstrip and much more. If you are lucky enough, you will meet goats grazing on the top 0f the rock, learn about this rock and traditional beliefs and this will be of great day tour. Leave and head to Kidepo valley National Park the true African wilderness.

This park has amazing scenery, diverse wildlife including largest herds of buffalos. Arrive late in the evening and head to your lodge booked.

Day 7: Game drive and cultural encounters.

Engage in the morning game drive where you will be hunting to spot the lion, leopards, giraffes, Zebras, ostriches, buffalos, warthogs, and many more. It will take about 2 hours, creating everlasting memories. Take part in visiting the nearby community of the Karamojong where you will take part in traditional dances, community tour and much more. This is as another greasy experience where you will be discovering one of the unique cultures in Uganda and Africa at large.

Day 8: Transfer to Murchison falls national park.

Leave Kidepo national park early in the morning and head to Murchison falls national park. You can opt to visit top of the falls, depending on your arrival time in Murchison falls national park or engage in the evening game drive which will be followed by checking in at the booked lodge.

Day 9: Game drive and boat cruise.

Head for a morning game drive that will last for 2 hours and this will take place in the northern part of the park which is a savannah. This game drive will expose you to different wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, hippos, buffalos, warthog, olive baboons, antelopes and much more.

There is a break at the hippo pool where you will have a great time spot hippo while having breakfast. You will also engage in the afternoon boat cruise on the Albert Nile where you will spot animals like hippos, crocodiles and many more.

Day 10: Transfer to Kibale national park and Isunga Cultural experience.

Head to the home of 13 primates including chimpanzees our close relatives and this is Kibale national park. This park is amazing and due to its biodiversity, its known as the research Centre for higher education. There is a lot to explore as you visit this park and among them are cultural experience for both Bakiga and Batooro and this will be done by Isunga Cultural Community adventures.

This will be done through traditional dances and music as you visit the Isunga Community. Head to the lodge where you will spend a night

Day 11: Chimpanzee tracking and leisure.

Head to Kanyanchu tourist information Centre where you will be able to meet other trekker in a hall ready to attend briefing exercise. You will then be rewarded with a great time for an hour while in the presence of these primates and while in the forest, you will spot other eye-catching points like colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys, olive baboons, different bird species and much more. You will head back to the lodge after 3 to 4 hours of adventure and this will be of great memories.

Day 12: Drive to Semuliki National park, visit the hot springs and Amabere caves in Fort portal.

Drive to Semuliki National park and visit the Sempaya hot springs. The road trip is amazing as you pass through the foot hills of Mount Rwenzori and this will offer you a view of the western arm of the rift valley escarpments. Arrive and be briefed about this park and the hot springs and after start the walk passing through the forest where you will be able to spot colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys and much more. Head to the female hot springs and boil your eggs or any food you have brought and then, head to the male hot springs.

After a great adventure, you will head back to Fort portal and visit Amabere caves that have cultural beliefs attached for Bachwezi and after visiting these caves, hike Mwegenywa Hill where you will be in position to view 3 crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain ranges, the surrounding villages and Fortportal town. Head to the booked lodge or hotel and this will be the best day in your life time.

Day 13: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and afternoon boat cruise.

Leave Fort portal and head to Queen Elizabeth national Park that is commonly visited and this is due to diverse wildlife. This park is dotted with different water bodies such as Lake Nyamunuka which is known as the hospital for animals, Lake Katwe the Salt Lake and much more.

Arrive and start watching over the different animals in the plains of the park such as the elephants, buffalos, antelopes, warthogs and much more. Arrive and be served with lunch at the lodge and after, head for boat cruise on Kazinga channel where you will be able to spot crocodiles and

Day 14: Game drives and transfer to the southern Ishasha sector.

Take a full day exploring Queen Elizabeth national Park which will take you to Ishasha sector which is known for tree climbing lions. There is a lot the you will spot such as elephants, leopards, hyenas, buffalos, antelopes like the Uganda kobs, bush bucks, waterbucks, warthogs and many others.

The game drives will be two, one in Kasenyi plains and another one in Ishasha sector. Each will take about 2 hours which will be of great adventure.

Day 15: Transfer to Bwindi national park and undertake a cultural experience.

Leave Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national Park and transfer to Bwindi national park that will be of great importance during this safari. This park is known to host 19 habituated gorilla families and again known to home half of the gorilla population in the world. This park also is a home to over 300 bird species and this makes it a good site to spot different bird species.

Arrive in the afternoon and be served with lunch which will be followed by visiting the Batwa community. These will create memorable experience where they will entertain you with traditional dances and music, learn to make fire naturally and much more. Later on, head back to the lodge for your dinner.

Day 16: Gorilla trekking tour.

You will head to the park offices where you will attend briefing about gorilla trekking experience. This will take about 20 minutes and it will create knowledge about gorillas and what to follow while in the forest. Head into the forest, and start the search for these great apes and these will expose you to these great apes for an hour while watching their movements, behaviors, and much more. After 3 to 4 hours while in the forest, you will trek back to the lodge and this will be of great memory.

Day 17: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Head to the smallest national park in Uganda where you will take part in golden monkey trekking which will create everlasting memorable experience. The journey to this park takes about 3 hours and you will be rewarded with a memorable journey full of different escarpment. Arrive and relax at the lodge booked.

Day 18: Golden monkey trekking experience.

Head to the offices of the park and attend briefing with fellow trekkers. You will be told about the dos and don’ts which you will follow while in the forest. Among them include, use of flash light cameras is highly recommended, keep a distance, no feeding of wild animals and no making noise in the forest.

Start the search while spotting other attractions like colobus monkeys, different bird species and much more. Have enough time of about an hour while in their presence which will be of great memory. The overall experience takes about 3 to 4 hours and this will be lovely and enjoyable. After, head back to the lodge for leisure experience

Day 19: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Head to Lake Bunyonyi after breakfast and this will offer you a chance to take a boat cruise on your arrival which will take you to visit different islands. This lake is the second deepest in Africa which means that swimming is not recommended but has a great view while at one of the resorts.

During the 2 hours boat cruise, you will visit islands like the leprosy island, Punishment Island and may more others. Chill and relax at one of the resorts in the evening.

Day 20: Transfer to Kampala with a stopover at Uganda equator.

Leave Lake Bunyonyi in the morning and transfer to Kampala which will be after a morning breakfast at the resort. The journey is amazing as you pass through the country side of the pearl of Africa, covering beautiful landscapes.

Have a stopover at the Uganda equator which will offer you great photographic memories. Buy some souvenirs and grab some snacks in case you are not interested in taking hot lunch. Proceed with the journey and check in the accommodation facility in Kampala.

Day 21: Drive to Entebbe International Airport.

Leave Kampala and head to Entebbe which will be after a short city tour. This will depend on your flight scheduled, you may visit places like the Uganda national museum, local markets, art and gallery centers and much more. The safari will end after a drop off at Entebbe International Airport.
