2 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Safari

2 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Safari

This 2 Days Chimpanzee Habituation safari is one of the shortest primate safaris we offer at Dolphin Tours and Travel. Chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale national park allows visitors to move along with researchers and have an insight into how chimpanzees are prepared for tourism. Abbreviated as CHEX, the process that helps the chimps familiarize themselves with people is worth going for as it gives more time to stay with the chimps and an insightful tour to learn about their behaviors and lifestyle while in their natural habitat. Tourists on a chimp habituation experience stay with chimpanzees for four hours while chimp trekking allows only one hour.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale national park

After breakfast at your lodge or residence in Kampala or Entebbe, start the journey to Kibale. The 5-6 hours drive from Kampala to Fort Portal is full of endless views of the scenic countryside including views of different landforms like hills, mountains, and huge out rocks among others. On arrival in Fort Portal, have lunch, relax, and enjoy the cool air here, then proceed to Kibale. On arrival at the lodge, freshen up and walk around the lodge to enjoy the views of the surrounding.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience and return to Kampala

Rise up early morning, prepare your backpack for the trek, have breakfast at the lodge, and head to the park offices. As the wildlife professional goes on with the briefing to guide you while in the forest, you also get to meet the researchers and the rest of the team for this activity. Chimpanzee habituation experience starts much earlier than chimpanzee trekking because you need to meet the chimps before they leave their nests. This is one of the most thrilling experiences with nature on a Uganda safari.

During the four hours with the chimpanzees, there is a lot to learn, from how the primates start their day, feed, take care of their little ones, and more. Entering this forest offers chances of spotting other wildlife including the various kinds of monkeys and other primates present plus different kinds of birds.

After four hours with the chimpanzees, return to the park offices and meet your safari guide, then embark on the return journey to Kampala with an en-route lunch.
