Tour Overview

13 Days Roundup Uganda Safari : This is a mega safari that will start from Kampala/Entebbe and still end in Kampala/Entebbe. You will be able to visit 7 National parks and one game reserve which is the second protected area in Uganda after Murchison Falls national park these are the most visited in Uganda and have the major country’s attractions and activities. The trip includes visiting the sexy falls of Sipi, Pian Upe Game reserve, Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison falls, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Kibale National park, Queen Elizabeth National park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Lake Bunyonyi which is the second largest lake in Africa after Lake Tanganyika, Lake Mburo national park. Each protected area/ national park has got something very unique from the others. The tour will involve gorilla trekking, game drives for wildlife viewing, launch cruises, bird watching, cultural tour, chimpanzee tracking, Rhino tracking, nature walks, cycling, and relaxation at some points.

Detailed Itinerary.

 Day 1. Pickup from Kampala and transfer to Pian Upe.

Our professional guide driver will pick you up from your hotel after your breakfast, he will brief you about the journey thereafter at 8:00 am, and you will pack your luggage and set off for the journey. You will go through the thick forest of Mabira where you will find locals roasting chicken and plantain (Gonja) which are so yummy, you will continue with the journey to the falls where you will see magnificent this waterfall is different from most of the waterfalls, the surrounding community of Bagisu who are best coffee farmers. The locals will tell you amazing stories attached to these falls, they will take you through the process of coffee growing as well, and then embark on your journey. You will have your lunch at Mbale resort thereafter, you will continue to Pian Upe, you will reach in the late evening at around 6 pm, and you check-in to the hotel where you will have an overnight. The journey will take you about 8-9 hours.

 Day 2. Game drive in Pian Upe and transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park.

You will wake up at 6:30 am for breakfast, and after your breakfast, you will go for a game drive. This exercise will take you about 2-3 hours, you will find beautiful wildlife like ostriches, topis, lions, and cheetahs, and you will find herds of elephants, buffaloes, and giraffes. This is a beautiful experience as you will encounter lions hunting buffaloes, and cheetahs chasing gazelles, with different bird species. After this exercise, you will get your luggage and transfer to Kidepo national park. The park is gifted with a number of mammals over 76 and it’s home to some endemic birds like purple heron, black coucal, and so many others. You will go through the rangelands of Moroto and Kotido, you will have your lunch at the Moroto hotel and then you proceed with the journey, you will enter the park from the southern part of the park. Reaching will be in the evening hours at around 5 pm, you will check in at the hotel for relaxation and an overnight stay.

 Day 3. Hiking Mount Morungole for a cultural tour and evening game drive.

You will wake up early morning at 7:30 pm, have breakfast and then embark on hiking. This is a very amazing exercise hiking the mountain Morungole and being able to meet the IK tribe of people who are the main settlers at the peak of this mountain. The IK people are the smallest group in northern Uganda, they are believed to have migrated from Ethiopia to Kenya and later migrated to Northern Uganda, they were cattle keepers but since they were weak to the Karamojongs, the Karamojongs were strong and many in the number who later fought them and took their cows, they became cultivators and fishmongers and they occupied the parkland and they were later dislocated to the mountain Morungole which they occupy up to now, you will enjoy their culture, their stories and dances, as you are at the peak of the mountain you will have a clear view of the park. After the hike you will go back to the lodge, relax and then have lunch. In the evening at around 3 pm, you will embark on a game drive which is a fascinating activity. In this evening game drive, you will be able to see most of the nocturnal animals such as lions, leopards, and so many others, you will have a chance to see how the lions hunt especially in the evening hours when the grazers are trying to rest. This is a fascinating exercise and very unique compared to any other activities. You will come back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

 Day 4. Transfer to Murchison falls national park and Boat cruise at the bottom of the falls.

You will wake up as early as 7:30 am, have your breakfast, and transfer to Murchison falls national park, you check in at your hotel, have lunch, and get ready for the launch cruise in the afternoon hours at around 3: 00 pm, you will sail through a population of hippos, jumbo Nile crocodiles, water birds, elephants at the river bank, buffaloes, and these are clearly seen since the boat passes very close to them. You will have to hike at the top of the falls since you will be at the bottom of the falls, this has a magical view and breathtaking fresh air. You will go back to the hotel for relaxation and an overnight stay.

 Day 5. Game drive and transfer to Kibale national park.

You will wake up as early as 6:30 am, have your luggage ready, go for breakfast, load your luggage on the vehicle and embark on the game drive, the game drive shall be done in the southern part of the park, and you will go out of Murchison falls national park and then brunch to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking, something that will take you about 2 hours. You will see these amazing animals and then you will continue to Kibale national park. The journey will take you about 6 hours, you will have a stopover at Masindi for refreshments and then proceed with the journey. You will reach Kibale in the late evening, relax and have an overnight stay.

 Day 6. Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park for a Boat cruise.

You will wake up as early as 6:30 am, have your breakfast and go for a briefing, and set off for chimpanzee tracking, this is a fascinating experience since Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale is the best activity since the park is a sanctuary of Chimpanzees, you will see various bird species in the tree branches chirping since the park is home to over 360 birds, the park is also home to other wild animals like Sitatunga, waterbucks, bushbucks, blue monkeys, and so many others. After tracking these chimpanzees, you will transfer straight to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a launch cruise at Kazinga channel a channel that connects the twin lakes, George and Edward. You will check in at the hotel in Queen Elizabeth national park, have lunch at around 2:30 pm, and go for a launch cruise, one of the best activities in Queen Elizabeth, this exposes you to a huge number of wildlife, such as buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, water birds, such as water ducks, shoebills, etc. These will give you undying memories and then you will go back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 7. Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

In the early morning at 6:30 am, have your breakfast, get briefed about the journey, and then embark on a game drive, game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park is so unique and spectacular, because of having clear animal tracking lanes, especially Kasenyi which is the mating ground for all kobs. You will find that most carnivorous animals like leopards, lions, leopards, and hyenas are always in these areas roaming for kobs, impalas, buffaloes, and zebras. The plains of kasenye will allow you to look further and you will discover the beauty of Queen Elizabeth National Park. After the game drive, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park and the journey will take you about 3-4 hours. You will check in at your hotel in the afternoon hours and then later you will go for cultural to that will be Batwa cultural tour. You will have an opportunity to see Uganda’s poorest and smallest tribe that is on the verge of extinction, they will entertain you through dance, drama, and how they lived and how they used to hunt. You will go back to the lodge for dinner and for an overnight stay.

 

Day 8. Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

In the morning after breakfast at 7:00 am, you will go for a briefing at the briefing center, a session that takes about 10-15 minutes, and then embark on the gorilla trekking, you will enjoy this fascinating experience in the morning hours, you will be able to trace the gorillas by following their paths and you will be seeing where they will be breaking tree brunches. After this, you go straight to Bunyonyi where you will relax and also for an overnight stay.

 Day 9. Boat cruise and cultural tour.

After your breakfast, you will have a boat cruise on the deepest lake in Uganda and you will be visiting different islands including the punishment Island, you will see the sandwiched islands and how they are designed in a lake, an experience that is so fascinating, you will find that there are so many canoes on the lake, especially by the locals who are always fishing. After this, you will go back to the lodge for relaxation, a scenic view, and the aura of the lodge, as you wait for the cultural tour in the evening at around 3:00 pm. You will go on a cultural tour and here you will be able to encounter the Bakiga tribe, they have their dances, they will entertain you with their story tales and also their social way of living.  You will go back to the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

 Day 10. Transfer to lake Mburo National Park.

This will be your day of relaxation, you will leave Bunyonyi at around midday and then transfer to lake Mburo National park and you will reach the park in the evening hours, you will have a relaxed evening, a mouthwatering dinner, and an overnight stay.

 Day 11. Game drive and boat cruise.

In the early morning at around 7:00 am, you will be setting off for the game drive, you will meet a school of impalas playing and jumping over shrubs, and you will meet a school of zebras since the park is home to zebras, buffaloes and so many wildlife and birds. The park is surrounded by farmlands, you will be seeing Ankole cows in distance, not in the parkland. You will go back to the lodge after the game drive, have your lunch, and then in the evening at around 2:30 pm, you will go for a launch cruise on lake Mburo. You will discover a variety of wildlife including buffaloes, hippos, impalas, and zebras, with spotted hyenas looking hunting for food. This activity always lasts for 2-3 hours which gives you a glance at nature. You will go back to your lodge for an overnight stay.

 Day 12. Birdwatching and cycling.

In the morning after your breakfast, you will go for birding since the park is home to over 320 birds, a good bird here will be able to see over 50 bird species including the endemic bird species, you will go back to your hotel for relaxation, swimming and in the evening, you will go for cycling, and you will enjoy guided cycling in the park going through wildlife. After this exercise of stretching muscles, you will go to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 13. Transfer back to Kampala.

After your breakfast, you will pack your luggage, and transfer back to Kampala.

Depending on your time of flight, we might go to Mabamba swamp home to shoebill and other 260 bird species which are seen in a limited area, this will increase your chances of seeing as many birds as possible.
